JEA Lifts Boil Water Advisory for Sandalwood Area

JACKSONVILLE — JEA lifted the precautionary Boil Water Advisory at 7:30 a.m. Sunday for the Sandalwood area, two days after detecting E. coli in a sample collected from wells on Saints Road, near its Oakridge Water Treatment Plant. JEA completed two days of testing that produced clear results.

JEA recommends that customers in the impacted area flush lines for three minutes.

The precautionary Boil Water Advisory began on Aug. 26, impacting an area in the Southside that includes more than 19,500 JEA customers.

The positive E. coli sample was collected before being treated at the plant and was not found in the distribution system. JEA closed the Oakridge Water Treatment Plant after confirming the E. coli results on the morning of Aug. 26. During a two-day period, crews sampled water from the wells and distribution system.
