Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program
JEA has partnered with the City of Jacksonville’s Department of Housing and Neighborhoods* to assist customers in making energy and water efficiency upgrades in their homes. These customers live on low or fixed incomes in disadvantaged neighborhoods as designated by the U.S. Census Bureau.
JEA sends the Neighborhood Energy Efficiency (NEE) crew to designated neighborhoods to install energy-saving products which will help lower their utility bills, as well as give tips on how to manage electric and water usage.
Eligible Census Tract Areas
The U.S. Census Bureau identifies qualifying neighborhoods as having 50 percent or more of the residents living at or below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty guidelines.
The good news is we come to you! Once a neighborhood has been identified, all residents will receive postcards explaining the NEE program and when to expect NEE crews in your neighborhood.
Energy Efficient Products
The NEE crew will install the following products in designated homes to help improve energy and water efficiency and lower utility bills:
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs
- LED night lights
- Low flow shower head(s)
- Faucet aerators
- Toilet flapper(s)
- AC filters
- Exterior door weather stripping
NEE Attic Insulation Program
In some cases, the Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program may also install attic insulation free of charge. For a home to qualify for attic insulation, it must have less than three inches of insulation. In addition, JEA will review the customer’s consumption history to see if it meets a high winter peak criteria.
Empowering Our Community
At JEA, community and service go hand in hand. Our employees volunteer their time and serve in several organizations throughout Jacksonville.
