JEA Recognizes Local Agency Partners for Their Work In the Community

2020-10-23

JACKSONVILLE – JEA honored three local human services advocates Thursday for their dedication and commitment to serving Jacksonville residents in need by presenting its fourth annual “Light it Forward Awards.”

JEA presented the awards at its annual Agency Appreciation virtual event, which was attended by representatives from more than two dozen local nonprofit organizations that work collaboratively with JEA.

Each year, these agencies provide millions of dollars in utility bill assistance to JEA customers in need. JEA created these awards to recognize the people behind the scenes who go above and beyond to help low-income customers in our community seeking utility bill assistance.

JEA’s Interim CEO and Managing Director, Paul McElroy, thanked the award winners and nominees for their tireless efforts assisting JEA customers in the Jacksonville community.

“You represent the best there is in servant leadership. Your work in helping those most in need, is truly the work of angels.” McElroy said.
McElroy presented the awards to Pattie Gocke, program assistant at Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry; Ed Palmer, veterans social service supervisor, Office of Military Affairs and Veterans, City of Jacksonville; and Nancy Chamblin, financial assistance program coordinator, Downtown Ecumenical Services Council.
