JEA Traffic Alert - State and Union Street Detours

Jacksonville, FL - A contractor (JB Coxwell, Inc.) working for JEA will be required to close the intersections of State Street (2 lanes) and Union Street at Liberty Street to complete the installation of two new sanitary sewer manholes.
Construction will begin on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. and will be completed by Monday, March 2, 2015 at 6 a.m.
Electronic message signs have been posted notifying area commuters and residents of lane and/or road closures prior to the work. Detour signs will be set-up to guide drivers around the construction area.
Eastbound traffic to the Mathews Bridge Expressway from downtown will be detoured at the intersection of Union Street and Liberty Street to East Bay Street/Gator Bowl Boulevard to the stadium Mathews Bridge Expressway entrance ramp.
Westbound traffic from the Mathews Bridge Expressway will be detoured on to the E. Union Street off ramp to E. State Street.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) will be providing staffing and traffic control assistance during the evening work. All Emergency Medical Services (EMS) have been notified of the closure.

State Street and Union Street Sewer Improvement Project
JEA has completed the pipe installation work on State Street, Union Street and Liberty Street. In the next 2-3 months, JEA will complete landscaping and installation of new ornamental fencing for the new sewer pump station located on Liberty Street. Liberty Street from State Street to Union Street will be resurfaced during this time period. The final restoration and paving by FDOT is estimated to be completed in Spring 2016.
