JEA Website and Pay-by-Phone System Down

2013-02-19

Jacksonville, FL - JEA’s website, jea.com, is experiencing a denial of service attack, which started Sunday, Feb. 17 at 12 a.m. This type of event means that JEA’s system is being inundated with data.

As a result, JEA’s website, jea.com, is down, as is most of the internet connectivity. We currently do not have an estimated time of restoration.

The current status is as follows:

This issue is a corporate internet connectivity event. This event is not related to any of JEA’s utility service.

Payments through JEA’s automatic phone system are also not working.

Customer care employees are available to answer phones. We do ask JEA customers for patience as wait times might be longer than normal.

Payments made through autopay, Winn-Dixie, the Tax Collector, JEA’s downtown office and third-party locations are all being processed.

Email sent to JEA is not being received.

JEA requests for stop/start orders and reconnect orders are still being processed. However, all orders for disconnect for non-pay have been suspended until this issue is resolved.

JEA is the seventh-largest community-owned electric utility in the United States and one of the largest water and sewer utilities in the nation providing electric, water and sewer service to residents and businesses in northeast Florida.
