Traffic Alert for University Blvd. N.

2013-02-01

Jacksonville, FL - A contractor (Callaway Contracting) working for JEA will be required to close two lanes of traffic and a turn lane on University Blvd. N. to complete a water main installation across University Blvd. N. at Commerce Street in the Arlington area. This work is tentatively scheduled for 2/4/13 - 2/18/13 (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.). The work will be completed on weekdays. No weekend work is planned at this time.

The construction will be divided into two phases. The contractor will close the southbound travel lanes and turn lane on University Blvd. N. to install the pipe half way across the street. Once this work is completed, the contractor will then close the northbound travel lanes and turn lane to complete the pipe crossing. Commuters will be able to travel both north and southbound at all times using one traffic lane. Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office (JSO) will be present to assist with traffic control.

This work is part of JEA’s Total Water Management Plan (TWMP) project, which involves building a pipeline to transfer water from the west side of the St. Johns River to the east side of the river through the Arlington area and ending near Southside Blvd. and Bradley Road.
