JEA Board Meeting Being Held at Special Time and Place
2012-10-12
Jacksonville, FL - The JEA Board of Directors is holding its October meeting in the evening to provide customers with another opportunity to talk with the Board regarding service delivery, long-term plans, outlook regarding utility rates and future service offering. The meeting will be held Tuesday, October 16, from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Lynwood Roberts Room at City Hall, 117 West Duval Street.
Prior to the Board meeting information stations will be available in the City Hall atrium beginning at 5 p.m., where customers can meet JEA staff and ask questions about their individual service or general JEA questions.
“It was very important to me, as chair, and to the entire board, that the community have easier access to these very important meetings,” explained Ashton Hudson, JEA Board Chair. “JEA provides essential services to this community and the evening meeting time will give our customers who cannot come to the regular morning board meetings an opportunity to be engaged.”
This meeting coincides with the start of JEA’s new fiscal year, and the first meeting with new JEA Managing Director and CEO Paul McElroy. The JEA Board of Directors selected McElroy September 7, 2012 to replace Jim Dickenson, who is retiring.
JEA board meetings are open to the public. The board meets on the third Tuesday of each month.
JEA’s governing board is made up of a seven-member Board of Directors appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Current members are: Ashton Hudson, Chair; Mike Hightower, Vice Chair; Cynthia Austin, Secretary; Ron Townsend; and Lisa Strange Weatherby. Two seats are open and await appointments by the Mayor.
