JEA Recognizes Companies for Outstanding Environmental Performance
2016-06-02
Jacksonville, FL - JEA held a ceremony on June 2, 2016 to recognize the outstanding environmental performance of several local manufacturing facilities that achieved 100 percent industrial pretreatment compliance during 2015.
Large manufacturing companies that discharge wastewater into the JEA sewer system are permitted by the JEA Industrial Pretreatment Group. The companies honored illustrate the diversity of manufacturing present on the First Coast – from multi-national corporations to logistics companies to local manufacturers.
One hundred percent compliance means that the facilities met all the conditions of their permits, discharged wastewater meeting effluent criteria, submitted required environmental reports, and passed rigorous on-site inspections. Several facilities were recognized for multiple years of perfect compliance.
Two companies have achieved ten consecutive years of perfect compliance, Platinum Award: Coca-Cola Refreshments USA, Inc. and K&G Box
Water Recovery, LLC received the P2 Award, which is given to an industrial user that has made significant environmental improvements utilizing pollution prevention methodologies
JEA Chief Public Affairs Officer Mike Hightower thanked the group for their superior environmental performance, and that JEA looks forward to continuing to foster the collaborative spirit that has been vital to improving the environmental quality within our community.
Forty-two companies, with a total of 48 locations, were honored and recognized for their awards. For more information please contact Tom Rauth, Manager, JEA Pollution Prevention Programs at (904) 665-8188.
