JEA Sets New Record for Winter Electric Peak

Jacksonville, FL - JEA set a new record for winter electric peak at 7:10 a.m. on Monday, January 11 - generating 3,250 MW for more than 400,000 customers in Duval, St. Johns and Clay counties.

The previous all-time record (winter) peak was 3,166 megawatts set on January 24, 2003.

The current record for summer electric peak is 2,937 MW set on August 7, 2007.

During the extreme cold temperatures we have experienced recently, one MW (megawatt) serves approximately 200 homes. During more temperate seasons, one MW serves 400 homes.

JEA is the eighth largest community-owned electric utility in the United States, providing electric, water and sewer service to more than 875,000 accounts in northeast Florida.
