JEA Industrial Pretreatment Awards

2013-10-29

Jacksonville, FL - The JEA Industrial Pretreatment Group held a ceremony to recognize the outstanding environmental performance of several local manufacturing facilities that achieved 100% industrial pretreatment compliance during 2012.

Large manufacturing companies that discharge wastewater into the JEA sewer system are permitted by the JEA Industrial Pretreatment Group. The companies honored illustrate the diversity of manufacturing present on the First Coast – from multi-national corporations to logistics companies to local manufacturers.

One hundred percent compliance means that the facilities met all the conditions of their permits, discharged wastewater meeting effluent criteria, submitted required environmental reports, and passed rigorous on-site inspections. Several facilities were recognized for multiple years of perfect compliance.

Four companies have achieved eight consecutive years of perfect compliance: Norfolk Southern Corporation, Rex Packaging, Swisher International, and Trend Offset Printing.

JEA Managing Director/CEO, Paul McElroy thanked the group for working together with a unified purpose. “Your efforts have allowed us (JEA) to focus on nutrient reduction, specifically nitrogen, and  have contributed to our success,” McElroy said.
