JEA Electric, Water Crews Respond During Extreme Cold
2026-02-01
JACKSONVILLE, FL (Feb. 1, 2026) – As forecasted, Northeast Florida experienced extreme cold temperatures and high winds during the afternoon of Jan. 31 and throughout the early morning today. JEA’s system performed as expected, with minimal electric outages related to the high winds.
We have received calls from customers reporting water outages. Currently, there are no water outages within JEA’s system. Overnight freezing temperatures may have caused customer pipes or water lines to freeze, preventing water from flowing into homes. As temperatures warm throughout the day, water service should return. If you believe you may have a cracked or burst pipe, we recommend turning off your water at the main shutoff valve and contacting a licensed plumber. If you are unable to locate your main shutoff valve, please call JEA at 904-665-6000.
Extreme weather and windy conditions are expected to continue through Monday. Customers are encouraged to continue following conservation and safety tips, especially during the early morning hours when electricity demand is highest, as people return to work and school.
JEA crews remain prepared to respond if needed, and we will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and take any necessary actions to maintain reliable service.
