Kawanza Humphrey Appointed to JEA Board of Directors
2023-08-22
JACKSONVILLE – Kawanza Humphrey, chief human resources officer for VyStar Credit Union, has joined the JEA board of directors. The Jacksonville City Council approved Humphrey’s appointment at its Aug. 22 meeting.
“We are pleased that Kawanza Humphrey is joining JEA’s board,” JEA Managing Director & CEO Jay Stowe said. “She brings a wealth of experience and will bring a fresh perspective to our board. We look forward to working with Ms. Humphrey as JEA continues to improve lives and build community in Northeast Florida."
Humphrey fills a vacancy left by the departure of Tom VanOsdol, who had served on the JEA board since April 2020.
Humphrey joined VyStar in August 2021, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the banking industry to the Jacksonville-based credit union. She is responsible for leading VyStar’s human resources efforts, including diversity, equity and inclusion; talent acquisition; employee relations; benefits, compensation; organizational performance and development.
Humphrey has served the community as a volunteer with several nonprofit organizations and is a board member of the UNF Foundation. She also is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and The Links Inc.
Humphrey earned a bachelor’s degree in English/African American Studies from the University at Buffalo and a master’s degree in Executive Leadership and Change from Daemen University.
