JEA Earns Two Statewide Reliability Awards for Improved Power Restoration
2026-05-21
JACKSONVILLE, FL (May 21, 2026) – JEA received recognition for significant improvements in electric reliability and service restoration for its customers, earning two reliability awards from Florida Municipal Power Agency, a wholesale power agency owned by municipal electric utilities across Florida.
FMPA General Manager and CEO Jacob Williams praised JEA’s continued progress in electric reliability during the JEA Board of Directors meeting on May 19. Over the past year, JEA achieved the lowest annual outage duration in its history — a 33% improvement since 2024.
“That’s a standard everyone in the industry would love to have. Those are some of the fastest restoration times in the state,” Williams said. “Part of the reason is that your team is there immediately to work with customers.”
Williams announced that JEA earned two 2025 FMPA Reliability Awards in the Extra Large municipal utility category:
- The Duration Award for achieving more than a 10% improvement in outage duration.
- The Momentum Award for achieving the largest improvement in outage duration.
