Project Objective

JEA crews are continuing work in your neighborhood upgrading and replacing portions of the electric infrastructure that serves your area. This work will include replacing any old or deteriorated power poles along the project route, as well as installing new conductor, trip savers, transformers and hook switches. Once completed, this project will provide for better power quality and reliability to the area.

This work will take place along portions of Normandy Boulevard between Country Creek Boulevard and Lane Avenue. Work will occur along the City of Jacksonville rights-of-ways and utility easements, and will not include the individual electric meters for homes or businesses.

Construction Conditions

Proper vegetative clearance and/or tree removals will be required along the project route around JEA poles and facilities to allow the project to move forward. The vegetative management objectives will be to enhance the benefits and mitigate the hazards of both the electrical service and existing tree canopy. JEA tree crews receive additional training on how to maintain sensitive tree canopies and target new growth approaching JEA lines (the line at the top of most utility poles).

Learn more about our goal of balancing a tree's health with safety and electric reliability at www.jea.com/treetrimming. Customers are encouraged to contact JEA Tree Care at (904) 665-6050 or at JEATreeCare@JEA.com with any questions they may have regarding trees and utilities.

Residents can expect large utility trucks in the area as work progresses. Prior to placement, utility poles may be dropped off or temporarily staged in the public right-of-way. Customers may experience some detours and lane closures around the work area while this work is in progress. Traffic control personnel may be utilized to help direct traffic around the construction area.

There may be times when driveways are temporarily blocked while crews are working in the immediate area. Crews will knock on doors to provide time to move vehicles prior to blocking any driveways. Please observe all construction signs, detours and general directions provided by the crews working on-site.

Planned Power Outages

Some customers may experience brief interruptions to their electric service.  JEA will notify customers at least 48-hours prior to any planned prolonged electric outagesWe apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by this construction work.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project will begin after the project has been completed. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
