Project Objective

As part of the Galvanized Pipe Replacement Program to modernize more than 200 miles of JEA’s existing potable water distribution system, a contractor working for JEA (Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors) upgraded and replaced portions of the existing water lines on Melba Street, College Place, College Street, Green Street, Nelson Street, Owen Avenue, Plum Street and Solstice Street.

These pipes had approached the end of their useful service lives and were proactively replaced to ensure the reliability of the JEA water system in the area. This project will provide increased water pressure, enhanced fire protection and improved system reliability.

Construction Conditions

Construction primarily occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads, and easements.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project typically begins 2-3 weeks after the new water line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
