San Jose (San Fernando to Bolles) Water Improvement Project

Estimated Dates & Work Schedule
Anticipated End Date: 2014-01-24
Roads Affected
Project Objective
JEA crews will be replacing the existing water main along the west side San Jose Boulevard from San Fernando Road to the entrance of the Bolles School property. These pipes have reached the end of their service lives and need to be proactively replaced to prevent any future main breaks or possible water outages.
This project will also include the installation of new individual water services (to the property line) and two new fire hydrants. When completed, the new main will increase area water pressure, provide for better system reliability and area fire protection. This is one of several JEA projects to replace the water main along San Jose Boulevard.
Construction Conditions
Construction will primarily occur in the City of Jacksonville and Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) rights of way, roads and easements. There will be times when roads will have limited access while the water main is installed but the flow of traffic will be maintained.
The majority of the work will occur within the right turn lane and parking lane located along San Jose Boulevard. Residents and businesses will be unable to park in these areas while the crews are working in the area.
Sections of driveways will be removed and replaced to install the pipe. Residents affected will be notified in advance by crews to allow for removal of vehicles prior to driveway construction.
