Project Update - November 10, 2016

Water and sewer lines have been installed and the water tie-ins to the existing system wast of the bridge on Pablo Road have been completed. This portion of the water line has been tested and cleared for use. The tie-ins east of the bridge on Pablo Road will be completed in the next two weeks.

The sewer force main will be tied in within the next two weeks and the water and sewer pipes will be removed from the bridge in the next 2-4 weeks.

Permanent paving has been scheduled for mid-December (weather permitting).

Project Objective

Over the next several months, a contractor (Callaway Contracting, Inc.) hired by JEA will be working in the Ponte Vedra Municipal Services District (PVMSD) to replace portions of the existing water and sanitary sewer system.

The primary objective of this project is to relocate the aging sanitary sewer main located between The Pointe Condominiums and the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club Golf Course. The current location of this pipe is not easily accessible for maintenance and repairs by our crews. As part of this project, JEA will also be proactively replacing and up-sizing the existing potable water main within the same limits of the new sewer installation.

The replacement of this water main will result in improved water service reliability and increased water pressure to nearby homes. Two (2) additional hydrants will be added for fire protection.

Areas/Roads Affected

Sections of San Juan Drive, Pablo Road and Pablo Drive. Please see the overview map provided for more details on the project's boundaries.

Construction Conditions

Construction will primarily occur in the public rights of way, roads and easements. The contractor will be required to temporarily close portions of roads to thru-traffic to complete the installation of the new sewer force main and water main. These closures are necessary for both the safety of the workers and the general public. Please be careful while driving in these areas and plan ahead for traffic delays.

Residents who reside within the project boundaries will be provided access to their homes and are permitted to drive (with caution) within the construction area. There will be times during the day when customers may have limited access when the contractor is working directly in front of a home.

Pedestrian Bridge

As part of this project, JEA will be removing its pipes from the pedestrian bridge that links The Point Condominiums to Pablo Road. JEA is having a structural engineer review the bridge before and after construction to verify that it is not compromised during the course of the pipe removal.

Water Outages

Some customers will experience minor interruptions to their water service during the construction. JEA will notify customers 48 hours prior to any planned outages. Residents may also experience a brief 10 to 15 minutes outage while crews transfer your home from the old water service to the new water service.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the new mains have been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any pre-existing pavement, landscaping, grass, curb(s), driveways or sidewalks affected during construction activities will be returned to its pre-construction condition. JEA will resurface the entire road within the project boundaries at the completion of the project.
