Blacks Ford Water Reclamation Facility Phase 4 Expansion Project
Project Objective
JEA has completed work to upgrade and expand the Blacks Ford Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) located at 5145-2 Long Leaf Pine Parkway in northwest St. Johns County. This expanded plant will have the ability to treat up to 6 million gallons per day for the purpose of reclaiming treated wastewater for irrigation purposes.
A substantial part of this project involved improving the overall treatment process at the facility by adding new equipment and re-purposing the existing equipment to increase its reliability and reuse water production capacity and adding a paved entry road.
Construction Conditions
There is a 150-foot buffer of natural vegetation screening the plant from the neighborhood to the west with natural wetlands on the other three sides. The majority of construction took place behind the wooded and fenced areas of the facility.
