Project Objective

A contractor working for JEA (JB Coxwell) is currently working to replace sanitary sewer lines, manholes, and a section of water lines at the intersection of Hernando Road and Marianna Road. This work is essential to maintaining the reliability of the water and sewer systems serving your neighborhood. When sewer lines fail, they can cause significant issues, including sewer backups, environmental harm, and roadway damage.

Construction Areas

Work will primarily occur in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements.

Construction Conditions

To ensure safety and expedite project completion, the intersection of Hernando and Marianna will remain closed until the project is completed. Weekend work will also be required to maintain the accelerated schedule.

Pedestrian access near the intersection will be limited. Please use caution when walking in the area. A map of the work area is provided below.

A temporary bypass pumping system is being used to manage wastewater flow during construction. To ensure safe excavation, a dewatering system is also in place to remove groundwater. Both pump systems will operate continuously until work in the area is complete.

Residents will be provided access to their driveways and will be permitted to drive (with caution) through the work area. Please observe all construction signs, detours and general directions provided by the crews working on-site.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin typically begin 2-3 weeks after the project has been completed. Any existing grass, sprinklers, pavement, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
