Electric Vehicle Incentives
EV Rebates: Whether you are buying or leasing a new Plug-in Electric Vehicle, JEA has a rebate for you. Rebate amounts vary depending on battery size and are for plug-in electric passenger type vehicles (all electric and hybrid) licensed to operate by Florida Department of Motor Vehicles. Rebates will be available for any qualifying plug-in electric vehicle purchased on or after, September 18th, 2014.
EV Tax Benefits: There are federal tax credits available depending on the capacity of the battery in your electric vehicle. The credits range from $2,500 - $7,500 and are available for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and Extended Range Electric Vehicles (EREV). There are also tax credits available for for businesses and individuals who purchase charging equipment for their plug-in electric vehicles.
Insurance Benefits for Electric Vehicles
Florida Statute 627.06535 protects consumers from additional charges from insurance providers for their plug-in electric vehicles. Furthermore, some insurance providers offer a discount on vehicle premiums for electric vehicle owners. Ask your insurance provider about electric vehicle discounts when shopping for a new electric vehicle.
