St. Johns Avenue Sewer Improvement Project

Estimated Dates & Work Schedule
Anticipated End Date: 2016-02-19
This project has been completed. Below is the information provided to customers prior to the project start date.
Roads Affected:
Euclid Street, Fair Street, Herschel Street, Roosevelt Boulevard, St. Johns Avenue
Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA has completed replacement of a failing sanitary sewer line on St. Johns Avenue from Roosevelt Boulevard to Fair Street and Euclid Street to Herschel Street.
Permanent paving is scheduled to be completed by Monday, February 15, 2016 (weather permitting).
This sewer line installation was completed using the pipe bursting method of construction that allows for less construction impacts to neighborhoods and a shorter overall project duration.
Construction Areas
Construction will occur along the City of Jacksonville’s streets and rights-of-way.
Partial Road Closure
JEA’s contractor will be required to close a portion of St. Johns Avenue from Euclid Street to Woodmere Street to thru vehicular traffic Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Traffic will be temporarily detoured around the work area (see detour map on this page). It is recommended that vehicular traffic utilize the traffic detours to avoid delays.
Residents that reside within the project boundaries will be provided access to their homes and are permitted to drive (with caution) within the construction area. The contractor will keep one traffic lane within the project area open using a flagging operation. Please observe all construction signs and direction provided by crews working onsite. Residents should plan ahead and anticipate traffic delays. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience.
Restoration of Project Area
Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, trees, grass, curb, or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
