Help Us Make jea.com More Accessible
We welcome your feedback and suggestions on ways to improve accessibility for this website. If you have any difficulty accessing information on jea.com or any of our other websites, please contact us:
JEA is continually working to make its web content and online resources accessible as part of its inclusion efforts. We believe that our visitors should have a choice on how they view our content, and we are committed to providing a website that takes into account leading web accessibility practices
Beginning Oct. 1, 2016, JEA made a commitment to ensure any new or updated website produced or sponsored by JEA conforms with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative’s (WAI) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level A. As we continue to work on our website, jea.com, our goal will be to conform to higher level guidelines such as WCAG 2.0, level AA.
To affirm our commitment, JEA team members, designated as website content editors, are trained in the functions of web accessibility tools and techniques. Periodic compliance scans of existing websites are conducted to detect Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 violations. Violations will be corrected to the best of our ability. Upon request, all information contained on JEA websites can be made available in an alternative format, or arrangements can be made by JEA staff to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.
Our goal is to ensure that everyone has equal access to information on jea.com and can fully interact with our web properties. Our website is assessed for ADA compliance by simulating methods, which are employed by people with various disabilities. We also use various tools such as validators, to indicate potential accessibility issues. We are committed to upholding our legal obligations to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Department of Justice (DOJ) web accessibility directives.
Supported Browsers & Mobile Operating Systems
The jea.com website is optimized for the following browsers and mobile operating systems: Mozilla Firefox 6+; Google Chrome 37+, Safari 6.1+, Apple iOS 7+, iPadOS 13+ and Android 4+.
JEA’s websites make use of industry-standard techniques and preferred practices to provide the highest possible level of ADA website accessibility for our users. These include, but are not limited to, the characteristics of usability for screen reader users, keyboard-only users, users with low/impaired vision, users who are deaf and users who are colorblind.
- JEA is committed to assessing, prioritizing and updating all jea.com pages and applications that are determined to be non-ADA compliant. As a result, we are in varying stages of progress toward our accessibility goal and will provide an update as we continually work toward improving our site.
- Some of our content is in PDF format only. We are working on a process to ensure all PDFs are accessible.
- Due to current technology constraints, there are some instances where we are unable to provide information in an accessible format (e.g. mapping information). We will monitor these sections and develop accessible solutions as technology improves.
