Project Objective
As part of the Galvanized Pipe Replacement Program to modernize more than 200 miles of JEA’s existing potable water distribution system, a contractor working for JEA (Calloway Contracting) replaced and upgraded portions of the water infrastructure on Edgewood Avenue near the intersections of Chenango Street, Edward Street, Lucille Road, Poinsetta Street, Pinecrest, Sunset Street, Shadow Street, Fern Street, and Columbus Street. This work was completed ahead of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Edgewood Avenue Road Project.
The joints and valves within these sections of the water system had approached the end of their useful service lives and were proactively replaced to ensure the reliability of the JEA water system in the area.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads, and easements.

Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 weeks after the new water line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Any existing grass, sprinklers, pavement, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
