*In some circumstances, extended hours and weekends may be required.
Project Objective
As part of the Galvanized Pipe Replacement Program to modernize more than 200 miles of JEA’s existing potable water distribution system, JEA crews replaced and upgraded portions of the water lines on W. 6th Street from Detroit Street to Huron Street, W. 7th Street from Detroit Street to Huron Street, and Detroit Street from W. 5th Street to W. 7th Street.
These pipes had approached the end of their useful service lives and were proactively replaced to ensure the reliability of the JEA water system in the area. This work also included the installation of six (6) new fire hydrants along the project route. This project will provide increased water pressure, enhanced fire protection and improved system reliability.
Construction Areas
Construction primarily occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads, and easements.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 weeks after the project has been completed. Any existing grass, sprinklers, pavement, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
