McConihe Street Water Main Improvement Project

To expedite completion of this project, beginning Saturday, July 19th, crews will be working every other Saturday and additional days/hours as required.
Project Objective
As part of the Small Diameter Pipe Replacement Project to modernize more than 200 miles of JEA’s existing potable water distribution system, a contractor working for JEA (JB Coxwell Contracting, Inc.) is continuing work on a project in your area to replace and upgrade the water line on portions of McConihe Street, W. 8th Street, Ella Street, Blue Avenue, Barnett Street and Whitner Street.
These pipes are approaching the end of their useful service lives and are being proactively replaced to ensure the reliability of the JEA water system in the area. When completed, this project will provide increased water pressure, enhanced fire protection and improved system reliability.
Construction Areas
Work will primarily occur in City of Jacksonville rights-of-ways and utility easements.
Construction Conditions
Residents will have access and will be permitted to drive (with caution) within the project area. However, street parking will be limited. Please see the work area map below. There will be times when driveway access is limited while crews are working directly in front of homes. Please observe all construction signs, detours and general directions provided by the crews working on-site. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by this construction work.
Temporary Road Closures - August 4-8
The contractor is scheduled to perform roadway related repair work in portion of the project area next week. For the safety of both crews and the public, temporary road closures and traffic detours will be in place while this work is actively underway. We ask all residents within the work zone to remove vehicles, equipment, and trash receptacles from the street during the dates and times listed below. Access to streets and driveways in the immediate work area will be limited during this time. Roadway access will be restored at the end of each workday. Please note that any vehicles left on the street during the posted work hours may be towed.

Planned Water Outages
Some customers may experience minor interruptions to their water service. JEA will notify customers at least 48-hours prior to any planned water outages.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin soon after the water line has been installed. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
