Project Objective

JEA and contractor electric crews replaced the existing wooden transmission poles with new concrete transmission poles, power lines and facilities along Jammes Road between San Juan Avenue and Raw Hyde Trail North. Please see map below for new pole replacement locations on Jammes Road.

This project was part of a larger project to upgrade the existing 6.25-mile long circuit between JEA’s Firestone Road and Hamilton Street Substations. This circuit had recently experienced increases to electric generation and service load due to growth in this area since the system was originally built in 1948. The circuit was upgraded and replaced as it had reached the end of its useful service life for providing consistent and reliable service to this area. The upgraded transmission system will improve your overall electric system reliability and prevent future unplanned power outages in this area.

Construction Conditions

Construction primarily occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads, and easements.

Restoration of Project Area

Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 weeks after the electric lines have been installed, tested and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
