Verona Avenue Water Improvement Project

Project Objective
As part of the Small Diameter Pipe Replacement Project to modernize more than 200 miles of JEA’s existing potable water distribution system. JEA crews are working in your area to replace and upgrade portions of the water lines on Ortega Forest Drive from Ortega Island Drive to Verona Avenue, Verona Avenue from Ortega Forest Drive to Water Oak Lane, King Richard Road from Eton Lane to Avon Lane, Queen Lane from Verona Avenue to Avon Lane, Milstead Road from Westfield Road to Martingale Road, Westfield Road from Water Oak Lane to Milstead Road, Homestead Road from Milstead Road to Water Oak Lane, Tanbark Road from Milstead Road to Water Oak Lane, and Martingale Road from Milstead Road to Water Oak Lane. Once complete, this project will improve water pressure and enhance the overall quality and reliability of water service in the area.
Construction Areas
Work will primarily occur in City-of-Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements.
Construction Conditions
Beginning next week, surveyors working for JEA will be in the area gathering information for the project. The information gathered will be used to determine area soil and asphalt conditions, locate public right-of-ways, and identify existing pipes and underground utilities.
Survey marks or flags will identify property, right-of-way boundaries, benchmarks, and physical site conditions (sidewalks, tree locations, etc.). Any paint you may observe is temporary and biodegradable. Please make every effort to avoid disturbing these markers during the survey period. Following the survey period, work to replace the water lines will begin.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin typically begin 2-3 weeks after the project has been completed. Any existing grass, sprinklers, pavement, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
Water Outages
Some customers may experience minor interruptions to their water service. JEA will notify customers at least 48 hours prior to any planned water outages.
