Keeping Our Community Safe With Reliable Utility Service
Coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted many area residents and continues to impact daily life in unprecedented ways. JEA is committed to providing you with the reliable energy, safe water and financial relief you need right now as we emerge from this pandemic.
Utility Disconnects Have Resumed for Non-Payment
JEA understands these are challenging times. That's why we suspended disconnections of electric and water service in March, when Florida officials declared a state of emergency. Now as utilities across the country have done, JEA has resumed normal policies,
including utility disconnections. To help as many customers as possible maintain their utility services without interruption, we’re offering flexible payment options that allow you to pay outstanding balances over a longer time. If you have a past-due
bill, we encourage you to act now to avoid disconnection.
Financial Relief for Customers
In April, JEA issued a one-time rebate for all residential and commercial electric customers in the form of a credit on May bills printed or posted to a customer's jea.com account.
Late Fees Waived
Effective March 31, 2020, any newly accrued late fees have been waived and will continue to be waived through September 30, 2020. Any late fees accrued prior to March 31, 2020 still apply.
Beginning October 1, 2020, late fees will resume.
Convenience Fees Waived
Effective April 6, 2020, JEA waived credit and debit card convenience fees for MasterCard, Visa and Discover card payments up to $10,000.
Beginning October 1, 2020, credit and debit card convenience fees will resume for these payments. JEA will also resume accepting American Express as a bill payment option on this date.
Apply for a Payment Extension or Arrangement
JEA will continue to offer interest-free payment extensions and arrangements. If you need more time to pay your bill, apply online. If you need assistance paying your bill, there are resources available.
Keep a Proper Distance From JEA Employees
JEA has discontinued all previously scheduled home water and energy assessments, as well as in-home services that require our employees to enter your home. Renewable Energy inspections have also been discontinued. If you see JEA employees working in your
neighborhood, please remember to give them space and keep a minimum distance of 6 feet from them. With proper social distancing, we’ll all get through this together. Read CDC Safety Guidelines
