Employee Volunteers: Connecting With the Communities We Service

JEA has a diverse and talented pool of team members who volunteer thousands of hours throughout the year to help with community nonprofit organizations like HabiJax, USO, Feeding Northeast Florida, Salvation Army, First Coast No More Homeless Pets and many more. JEA team members are our strongest connection to the communities we serve.

Volunteer Spotlight of the Month (April 2024)

JEA’s April volunteer of the month is Alicia Bailey. A senior manager of customer contacts, Alicia has been with JEA for a year. In her role, she leads and supports a team of JEA Customer Advisors, who provide in-person, phone, and email support to nearly one million customers.

Alicia says she actively volunteered in every community she has lived in since childhood, and continuing her dedication to service at JEA is important to her.

“I was motivated to continue to volunteer at JEA because it gave me an opportunity to get to know the citizens of Jacksonville, as well as improve the city, one event at a time,” she said.

In her years of volunteering, Alicia’s most memorable moment with JEA’s community service opportunities has been the Salvation Army event in December and seeing the impact that giving had on families within our community.

Alicia says she would encourage every JEA employee to volunteer, and she often brings her family to many community service events.

“I enjoy sharing information, or resources, that may help someone get to a better place in their life,” she said. “Selfless service is the most underrated agent of change.”.
