Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Ferreira Construction Company) is working in your area to relocate and upgrade the existing sanitary sewer pump station at 7732 Merrill Road.
The objective of this project is to build a new pump station that will upgrade the station’s components and accommodate future growth in the area. Sanitary sewer pump stations are designed to collect wastewater from gravity sewer mains which is then transported to our sewer treatment facilities. This project will ensure the reliability of the sanitary sewer system that serves your neighborhood.
Construction Conditions
Work is occurring on the JEA property and in City of Jacksonville roads, rights-of-way, and utility easements. Please see a map of the work area below.
Residents and businesses may notice increased construction traffic and materials at the pump station site, and there will be some noise associated with this construction.
This project will not impact your normal JEA electric, water, or sewer service. We appreciate your patience during this important infrastructure improvement project and apologize for any delays or inconvenience caused by this work.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin typically begin 2-3 weeks after the project has been completed. Any existing grass, sprinklers, pavement, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
Merrill Road Temporary Lane Closures - June through August 2025
Crews will soon begin work to replace the sewer main across Merrill Road required for the new pump station. To ensure the safety of crews and the public, two lanes of traffic on Merrill Road will be temporarily closed during construction as crews install piping across the road.
Construction will begin by first closing the eastbound lanes and detouring traffic though the westbound lanes. Once work on that section is complete, the closure and detour will shift to the westbound lanes. Please see the work area maps below for more information.
Planned Overnight Water Outage - 7/17-7/18
A planned water outage is scheduled on Thursday July 17th at 9:00 p.m. to Friday, July 18th at 4:00 a.m.*
A precautionary Boil Water Advisory (BWA) may be issued following this water outage. Any customers impacted by a BWA will be notified. Learn more about water outages and advisories at jea.com/bwa.
