Edison Avenue Water Improvement Project

Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc.) replaced and upgraded the existing water main on Edison Avenue (between Druid Street and Pinedale Terrace), Hermes Street, Hunt Street (from Hermes Street to just past Luray Street) and Nolan Street at Hermes Street. This project will increase water pressure, provide improved system reliability and enhanced fire protection.
Construction Conditions
Construction will primarily occurred in City right of ways and easements.
Temporary Road Closures & Detours near Pinedale Elementary School
PHASE 1
Edison Avenue between Pinedale Terrace and Hermes Street will be temporarily closed and traffic will be detoured (see detour map #1 below). We will be required to temporarily close the sidewalk on the north side of Edison Avenue.
Estimated Detour Dates: Monday, Nov. 8, 2021 – Monday, Nov. 15, 2021*
PHASE 2
Edison Avenue between Pinedale Terrace and Hermes Street, and Hermes Street between Edison Avenue and Highway Avenue will be temporarily closed and traffic will be detoured (see detour map #2 below). We will be required to close the sidewalk on the east side of Hermes (Edison-Nolan) and on the west side from Highway to Edison.
Estimated Detour Dates: Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021 – Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021*
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin after the new water main has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
