Area residents ages 12 and up, along with JEA team members, contractors and their family members will be eligible to receive the COVID vaccine at this community event. No appointment needed.

The tragic death of Dr. Leon Haley Jr., UF Health Jacksonville CEO, JEA board member and leader in promoting COVID vaccinations in Jacksonville, has inspired JEA to host a community vaccination clinic at its downtown headquarters. The free vaccination event, JEA’s Salute to a Healthcare Champion, will be held Thursday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

JEA has partnered with Agape Family Health to offer the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines to community members as well as all JEA team members, contractors and their family members. The event will feature two of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority's Wellness on Wheels buses that Agape Family Health uses as mobile vaccination sites.

The vaccine is open to individuals ages 12 and older. With school openings rapidly approaching, this is a great opportunity to get our students vaccinated.

Vaccinations: Agape Family Health will administer Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer vaccines at this vaccination event. You may select the vaccination you prefer at the time of check-in. If the Pfizer shot is selected, those recipients will be signed up for the second shot at the same time 21 days later and will need to provide a mobile number on the initial appointment, or give it to the volunteer at check-in. Pfizer second vaccinations will be given on Thursday, Aug. 26.

For JEA Team Members: In addition to the mobile units, Agape Health will be providing vaccinations to JEA employees in the Tower Lobby, 21 W. Church Street (dining area). No sign up is necessary, but JEA employees are encouraged to bring their Florida Blue medical card and Driver’s License.

Parking: All participants should attempt to park in the reserved metered parking spots on Ashley Street. Security officers will be on-site to assist with traffic and direction.

Social Distancing/Mask Wearing: Masks will be required while waiting and during the vaccination. Please maintain appropriate social distancing.

What to Expect: Once you arrive, check in with the registration table, get your shot and then be prepared to wait 15 minutes to make sure you do not have a reaction – and then you are on your way.

About the Johnson and Johnson Vaccine: The J&J vaccine is a one-shot vaccination that does not require a second shot. Follow the link for information on the J&J vaccine.

About the Pfizer Vaccine: The Pfizer vaccine is a two-shot vaccination that requires a second vaccination in three weeks (Aug. 26). Follow the link for information on the Pfizer vaccine.
