JEA Continues to Strengthen Security Protections
2026-07-31
JACKSONVILLE, FL, July 31, 2026 –– Recent events highlight the importance of strong cybersecurity and resilient critical infrastructure. JEA continuously monitors its systems for potential threats and has found no indicators of compromise. Our teams continue to strengthen the security and resilience of the systems that support the safe, reliable delivery of electric, water, and wastewater service to our community.
"We are committed to protecting the critical systems that provide essential services to our community every day. While no organization can eliminate cyber risk entirely, we will continue to strengthen our cybersecurity program, monitor for potential threats, and invest in the people, processes, and technologies that help keep our infrastructure safe and reliable,” JEA Interim Managing Director and CEO Jody Brooks said.
How JEA Secures Its Systems
At JEA, protecting the systems that deliver essential services to our community is a top priority. We operate in accordance with applicable federal and state cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, resilience, and incident-reporting requirements. Our cybersecurity program follows the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and utility industry best practices.
JEA uses a layered cybersecurity approach that includes network segmentation, controlled access, secure system configurations, restrictions on external connectivity, continuous monitoring, and dedicated cybersecurity and physical security teams. If a security incident were to occur, protocols are in place to quickly identify, contain, and respond to threats while supporting the continued delivery of the services our customers rely on. Jacksonville leaders offered their support for the work:
JEA also maintains emergency response and operational continuity plans designed to support reliable service if technology systems are disrupted. In addition, we participate in federal, state, and utility-sector information-sharing programs to receive timely threat intelligence and coordinate with government and industry partners.
