JEA Board Approves Rate Adjustments Effective Oct. 1

2026-06-30

JACKSONVILLE, FL, June 30, 2026 –– The JEA Board of Directors voted to adjust electric, water and sewer rates to help JEA address rising operating expenses and support infrastructure investments needed to meet Northeast Florida’s continued growth. The rate adjustments will take effect for residential and commercial customers Oct. 1.

“As our region continues to grow, we are making infrastructure investments to maintain the reliable electric and water services our customers depend on every day. These rate adjustments will help us address rising operating costs and strengthen our systems to support Northeast Florida today and into the future,” JEA Managing Director and CEO Vickie Cavey said.

Rate adjustments will allow JEA to continue:

Keeping rates as low as possible: JEA expects its combined electric and water rates will remain among the lowest in Florida compared with peer utilities, even with the rate adjustments.

The overall impact on monthly bills will depend on usage; it can range from a 1.6% to 3.1% electric increase for residential customers. Monthly costs for a typical residential water and sewer customer bills may increase between 4.3% - 7.5% depending on usage.

JEA recognizes that any increase in utility bills impacts customers and provides tools and assistance programs to help customers manage their monthly expenses. Customers can find bill assistance solutions at jea.com/assistance.

Providing reliable electric and water service to more than one million customers: JEA is investing in infrastructure projects and technology to serve customers 24/7, 365 days a year. In 2025, JEA achieved the lowest annual power outage duration in its history, a 33% improvement since 2024.

Every year, JEA collects and tests more than 45,000 water samples throughout our service territory to ensure safety and compliance.

Diversifying its electric generation portfolio and paving the way for a sustainable water future: The utility has reduced carbon emissions by 53 percent since 2007, with the closure of the St. Johns River Power Park coal-fired plant and the decommissioning of Plant Scherer in Juliette, Ga.

JEA plans to build a combined cycle natural gas plant at the former St. Johns River Power Park site, allowing the utility to strengthen system reliability and meet future energy demands while reducing carbon emissions.

JEA’s H2.0 Purification Center will diversify and bolster its water supply, ensuring readiness for future generations.
