Big Wins for JEA Journeymen Teams in Florida Lineman Competition

Jacksonville, FL - (March 5, 2018) – All four JEA Journeymen teams brought back at least one trophy in the Florida Lineman Competition in Gainesville, Florida last weekend, marking the first time all JEA teams have placed in the top three of rodeo events.

Each journeyman team participated in five events during the 19th annual event hosted by the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA). All events are judged on accuracy, time and safety.

JEA Winners were:

1st Place, 12kv Dead End Change Out and Hurtman Rescue

JEA also received an FMEA Restoring Communities Award sponsored by ENCO Utility Services, for its restoration efforts during Hurricane Michael and special FMEA recognition for outstanding safety in a company with 2.5 million or greater man-hours worked. Chief Public and Stakeholder Affairs Officer Mike Hightower accepted both awards on behalf of JEA.
