ISO 14001

JEA is committed to demonstrating environmental leadership in order to better serve its customers and protect the community and environment in which it operates. In order to support this commitment JEA has developed an Environmental Management System (EMS) for its Ridenour Water Treatment Plant.

What does an EMS mean to the Jacksonville community and JEA?
An EMS ensures the development and implementation of standards and an audit process to correct any deficiencies or identify new aspects. JEA personnel are trained and assigned specific roles in order to ensure EMS compliance.

What is an Environmental Management System (EMS)?
An environmental management system (EMS) is a methodical approach to handle an organizations environmental aspects. An EMS is a 'tool' that enables an organization to control the impact of its activities, products or services on the environment.

What is ISO?
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an international federation of national standards bodies. The object of ISO is to promote the development of standardization and related activities in the world to facilitate international exchange of goods and services, and to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity.
