Electricity is something we don't usually think about until we don't have it. We just flip the light switch, turn on the television or the video games and expect them to work. But do you know how electricity works or even what it is?
What is Electricity? Electricity is a form of energy. But first, we have to start with atoms. Even though they are very small, too small to see, they are in everything. In an atom's nucleus (its center) are protons and a neutrons. Electrons move very fast around the proton and neutron. The fast movement of electrons makes the energy in electricity.
We have electricity around us all the time-shocking someone after walking around on a carpet, making socks cling to your shirts and causing lightning during a thunderstorm. This is static electricity. We use current electricity in our homes, businesses and schools. This means that the electricity moves in a current as JEA makes it.
"That's all well and good, but how does it get to my house?" you say.
