Frequently Asked Questions
- How does insulation work?
In warm weather, heat moves from outdoors to your home’s interior. To maintain comfort, the heat gained must be removed by your air conditioner or heat pump. In cold weather, insulation helps keep heat inside your home.
-
How does sealing leaks improve the performance of insulation?
Insulation works best when air is not moving through or around it; so it is also
important to seal air leaks to ensure optimal results.
- Where is home insulation most needed?
The most common place to add insulation is in the attic, which achieves
the biggest savings. Insulating attics, crawlspaces and other areas decreases the amount of cooling needed by providing an effective resistance to the flow of heat.
