Energy Audits
SmartShop.jpg

An energy efficiency evaluation, or energy audit as it is often called, will give you a big picture look at your home’s energy usage so you can plan your next steps toward a more energy efficient home. It’s a holistic approach that will help you make informed decisions.

ShopSmart with JEA
is committed to helping homeowners by subsidizing professional, investment-grade energy evaluation discounts using funds from a federal energy efficiency grant that JEA sought for this purpose on behalf of our customers.*

A local certified energy professional of your choice will evaluate your home and provide a ranked list of energy efficiency and conservation measures for improvements by expected financial benefit and the steps necessary to take action on those items.

The report will also provide:

  • List of behaviors to improve your home’s operations, maintenance and
    energy efficiency
  • Any current non-JEA incentives, (State of Florida, ENERGYSTAR®, etc.)
  • Help and guidance in choosing contractors and performing upgrades if you choose to have any work performed on your home

Only valid cost effective measures with proven savings expectations from reliable research will be recommended.

How much will JEA lower the price of these energy evaluations for homeowners?
The initial Audit will be reduced by 25% ($150 maximum). You can qualify to have the remaining 75% ($600 maximum) refunded if you:

  • Decide to perform upgrades within 90 days of the energy audit and
  • Increase the efficiency of your home by 15% or more and
  • Have the installed efficiency improvements inspected by the auditor

If you meet all the above criteria and qualify, an additional refund will include costs associated with the auditor's inspection, testing and reporting up to total maximum rebate of $1,000 per househould.

Please allow 6-8 weeks from the date of the audit or the Energy Efficiency Improvements installation to receive the Energy Audit refund from JEA.

Why get a professional, investment-grade energy audit from a JEA approved EEE Professional?
In addition to all the reasons above, if you are interested in applying for low-interest financing program, you must have this type of energy audit. Click here to find out more about financing assistance for home energy upgrades.
