SHARP for W/WMM&IS Steps in the Hiring Process

  1. Attend SHARP orientation,
  2. Pass TABE & Bennett assessments:
    • TABE passing grade = 10.0
    • Bennett passing grade = 47
      • FCCJ gives both tests regularly.
      • JEA accepts scores from tests taken within the past two years.
      • Call FCCJ at (904) 632-5020 to schedule appointment.
  3. Pass Physical Agilities tests,
  4. Skilled Hands Apprenticeship Readiness Program – PASS,
  5. Background Screening completed,
    (criminal, employment, driver’s license)
  6. Successful SHARP completion,
  7. Candidate goes on Eligibility List,
  8. Selection According to CSR&R. Veteran’s preference applies,
  9. Conditional offer pending screening results,
  10. Physical / Substance abuse screening,
  11. Apprentice hired.

  • Operates Equipment for Construction, Maintenance & Preventive Maintenance of Water & Wastewater, Pipes and Appurtenances
  • Inspects, Installs, Maintains & Repairs Utility Lines & Components
  • Lays Block, Brick & Performs
  • Finished Cement Work
  • Utilizes Hand Tools
