Team Resistance is a FIRST robotics club based at the Stanton College Preparatory School in Jacksonville, FL led by a JEA engineer for the last 11 years. As a veteran robotics team, Team Resistance has been participating in FIRST competitions for the past 12 years. Our 'bots' are built in a garage workshop and are driven by the students that built them.

A student’s perspective of the benefits of First Robotics participation
"Of all the hundreds of choices available, I wanted to be a summer coop with JEA largely due to the favorable impression a JEA Engineer left on me as the mentor of my high school robotics team. The term mentor does not come near to describing how involved he was in Team Resistance: five or more hours on Sundays year round and virtually every day for six weeks in January and February were dedicated to teaching students the craft of manufacturing with every manner of tool and machinery. That he did this while also pulling overtime hours to blast the concrete out of a boiler greatly impressed me. If JEA fostered the high degree of technical knowledge and inspired the enthusiasm portrayed by JEA’s “Chief Geek”, then I wanted to be a part of it. It was my great pleasure to repay the First Robotics organization while with JEA, by presenting myself to representatives from the manufacturing industry as validation for the payback from corporate sponsorship of high school robotics teams."
