Co-op Program General Policies & Hiring Steps

Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited institution

  • Undergraduate student in a related field of study
  • Graduate student in related field of study
  • Successful completion of standard JEA recruitment processes

Schedule:
We offer co-op opportunities year round with flexible start and end dates as well as part time hours.

Environment:
The co-ops participate as a group in an employee orientation and networking/feedback sessions including educational events/tours throughout their duration of employment and community outreach activities.

Participation in individually challenging projects while training on the job will improve the co-ops technical skill in addition to strengthening their behavioral competencies.

Recruiting:
Corporate Workforce Planning will visit college campus’ for career fairs, information sessions, on campus interviewing, etc. at the following schools:

  • Clemson University
  • Edward Waters
  • Florida A&M University
  • Florida Community College of Jacksonville
  • Florida State University
  • Georgia Tech
  • Jacksonville University
  • University of Florida
  • University of North Florida
  • Other Educational Institutions

Subject Matter Experts for each discipline being recruited may participate in on campus events and will interview prospective candidates for consideration.

The Co-op Program Committee will review all candidates interviewed, make selections, and approve all prospective offers.

Corporate Workforce Planning will work with Recruitment Services as they process the candidates through each step of the hiring process.  

Compensation:

  • Pay Range – Engineering co-ops
    • $12.50 - $ 15.00 / hour
  • Pay Range – Co-ops other than engineering
    • $10.50 - $ 12.50 / hour
