Service Availability Requests

JEA provides electric service to more than one million customers in Duval County and portions of St Johns and Clay counties. JEA also provides water and sewer services to families and businesses in much of Duval County and portions of Nassau, St. Johns, and Clay counties.

Prior to submitting for a building permit with area counties, an Availability Request Form is needed. Service availability requests are reviewed by our System Planning Team. Requests are normally completed within 7 (seven) business days.

If it is determined JEA is the utility service provider for your home or business, a service availability letter will be provided to the applicant with an expiration of one (1) year from the date written, potential points of connections and a tracking number commonly referred to as an availability number. The availability number is utilized as an identifier to track projects involving sewer and water service throughout the projects lifecycle. If the scope of a sewer and water project should change during this year-long availability, a new availability request may needed.

In order to evaluate a request for utility service, please include the following information:

  • Site location map along with the Real Estate Number (Duval Co.) or property information number (PIN) clearly indentifying the property.
  • Brief description if project is a D.R.I. (Development of Regional Impact), P.U.D. (Planned Unit Development), Commercial or Industrial.
  • Scope of project such as proposed installation, type of facilities such as potable water, fire protection, irrigation and/or wastewater uses for site.

The verification of existing JEA maintained utilities may be obtained for your home or business. These request must be received in writing and are generally completed within two (2) business days for sewer and water tap locations and 5 (five) business for all other requests such as GIS maps and As-Builts Click here to go to As-Built Drawing Requests.
