JEA’s Preferred Backflow Prevention Assembly Vendor Program is a voluntary program intended to provide customers with a list of qualified vendors that can properly test, repair, replace, or install these devices.
Participants in this voluntary program must meet certain criteria established by JEA. Preferred vendors will submit all required reports to JEA for their customers.
Criteria for Becoming a Preferred Vendor
- Hold current American Water Works Association endorsed certification in BFA testing
- Proper Licensing – 2 categories on the Preferred Vendor List
- Test and perform limited repairs – no specialized license required
- Test/replace/install – must be licensed plumber or irrigation contractor or underground utility contractor
- Agrees to Tag BFA
- Tag must be water resistance
- Tag must have at a minimum the following information:
- Company name
- Certification date
- Name of certified tester
- Agrees to submit certification form to JEA for their customers and submit electronic reporting when available.
- Must submit completed Preferred Vendor Application
- Must submit completed Code of Conduct Application
- JEA will randomly audit representative # of BFA certifications
Preferred Tester and Repairers benefit by:
- Demonstrating to their customers that they meet the highest standards in their profession
- Increased exposure
- List of program participants will be included with all compliance mailings to customers
- Listed on JEA.com’s Cross Connection Control web page
