JEA Urges Contractors/Vendors to Get Super Bowl Requests in by Jan. 24
Jacksonville, FL (January 13, 2005) - JEA urges vendors who have Super Bowl XXXIX-related needs for either temporary or permanent electric or water service to get their requests in by Monday, January 24 to ensure they can be handled in time for the event.
JEA, in conjunction with the Duval County Master Electricians Association, contacted local licensed electricians to alert them to the upcoming deadline.
"Basically, any vendor requiring electric service to support their activity in the downtown area needs to have their final inspection permit from the City of Jacksonville's Building and Inspection Department no later than end of business on Monday, January 24," according to Hamid Zahir, JEA's Director of Customer Order Management.
Many vendors provide their own generators to supply power for their equipment. The deadline only applies to electric service requests in the downtown areas where Super Bowl XXXIX activities are planned.
Also, JEA is requesting all water service applications for the same area be submitted to the utility by the same deadline.
Contractors also need to note that JEA will not be able to connect to water mains along Main Street, Union Street and any other streets where paving is currently under way in preparation for the game.
For more information on electric permits and inspections, contractors should contact the City of Jacksonville at 630-1407. For Super Bowl-related electric service locations, contractors should contact Gabor Acs at 665-7729 as soon as possible.
For permanent or temporary Super Bowl-related water services, contractors should contact Brenda Forbes at 665-4465.
JEA is the eighth largest community-owned electric utility in America, providing electric, water and sewer services to more than 750,000 accounts in Northeast Florida.
