JEA EXECUTIVE NAMED TO ITFLORIDA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
JEA's Vice President, Technology Services, Wanyonyi Kendrick, to Sit on Board of Directors

Jacksonville, FL. - October 4, 2001 - Tuesday at a Governor's press conference, JEA VP, Technical Services, Wanyonyi Kendrick, was announced to the Board of Directors of ITFlorida.com, Inc. (www.itflorida.com) Ms. Kendrick has spent most of her career integrating diverse systems and processes to ensure the implementation of measurable results. Ms. Kendrick's results driven approach will ensure that ITF helps Florida become the leading high-tech state in the country and increase Florida's competitiveness in the international market.

The Board of ITFlorida is comprised of top technology leaders from all of the major technology sectors in the State. One component of ITFlorida's mission is to provide guidance and input to the Governor, Legislature and other policymakers on technology issues confronting the State. ITFlorida is the private-sector successor to the Information Service Technology Development Task Force, which was established in 1999 to promote and coordinate efforts to grow the high-tech sector in the State. (The Task Force statutorily dissolved in June 2001.)

"Our state is perfectly positioned to serve as the gateway to the Americas at a time when we can unite the Western hemisphere through information technology," said Governor Jeb Bush. "As we expand the high-tech sector in Florida, I hope that ITFlorida will continue to serve as a catalyst for efforts to attract, grow and retain the industries needed to provide the state with a competitive advantage."

"ITF's goal is to promote the common interests of its members (from all parts of Florida, government and private sectors) in terms of formulating policy recommendations, leveraging technology break-throughs and supporting events that focus on the issues most important to the State of Florida," said Kendrick.

ITFlorida has a comprehensive calendar of events, including legislative briefings for technology executives, meetings with government officials, a statewide awards banquet and other industry and educational programs.
