What do a mad scientist, a rocket-powered sled, and flying toilet paper have in common? They're all part of an exciting new learning experience at MOSH called the JEA Science Theater and AquaExpo!
The Jacksonville Museum of Science and History (MOSH) and JEA teamed up to create another fun educational experience at MOSH. This one teaches kids of all ages some of the science behind the energy that powers our homes and businesses, and about water, one of our most precious natural resources.
The exhibit is made up of two parts: The JEA Science Theater and the AquaExpo. In the science theater, a "mad scientist"/educator uses some unconventional "tools" to demonstrate scientific principles. Kids visiting the theater will participate in science shows and learn about electricity and electrical safety. The AquaExpo focuses on the scarce and precious nature of water and why it's important to conserve it.
"JEA has long been required to provide education to its customers, but this is definitely a first for us. We decided that finding a new and exciting way to offer that education could be a little more effective," said Jane Upton, JEA's Director of Brand Management.
Michael Oberg, MOSH VP, said, "Seeing kids actually enjoy learning in an environment like the JEA Science Theater and AquaExpo is so gratifying after all the time and effort that so many of us put into creating this."
"Thousands of kids are going to have a great time learning about energy, water and electrical safety when they visit this new exhibit. Our JEA-MOSH partnership has exceeded my hopes," said Mike Hightower, JEA Board Chairman.
The new exhibit is being announced around Jacksonville with service announcements on television, radio commercials, a JTA bus wrap, billboards, lamppost banners, and ads in local papers.
